The Ridgewood Concert Band continues the tradition of entertaining and
inspiring international audiences with a summer 2010 concert tour of Germany, Austria, and Italy.
The Band will depart the United States for Munich, Germany on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 and will return
from Italy on Thursday, July 22, 2010.
Traditionally, the traveling concert band has consisted of standing RCB members and visiting musicians
from around the United States with advanced amateur or professional performance capability. We welcome
all qualified musicians to contact us for more information about traveling and performing with the concert
band overseas.
The trip is a combination of sight seeing and performing.
Under the direction of Dr. Christian Wilhjelm, the Band will perform six concerts.
- Concert 1: Kurpark Gardens in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a market town in Bavaria, southern Germany
- Concert #2: Munich Kunstlerhaus (Munich House of Artists) in Munich, Germany
- Concert #3: Salzburg, Germany – venue to be determined
- Concert #4/5: Schladming Festival, Schladming, Austria
- Concert #6: Venice, Italy – venue to be determined
Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany - Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
Germany – Partnach Gorge, Ludwig II “Kings House,” Richard Strauss residence, adjacent Partenkir-Chen
founded by the Romans, and spectacular views o Zugsptitze, Germany’s highest mountain.
Munich, Germany – Marenplatz, Old and New Town Halls (Rathaus),
Deutsches (German) Museum of Science and Technology, Bavarian International Museum of Art, Alte and Neue
Pinakothek, and the Residenz (Winter Palace of the Bavarian Kings).
Schladming, Austria - Salzkammergut,
St. Woffgang, Bad Ischl, and possibly and excursion via Alpine drive to Bad Ausee and
Halstatt.
Venice , Italy – Vaporetto along the Grand Canal,
Piazza San Marco. Doge’s Palace, and more.
Florence, Italy – Pitti Palace, Ufizzi Gallery, Bargello,
Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza dela Signoria, Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore), Santa Croce, and more.
