The Ridgewood Concert Band is committed to assisting in the musical education of young people and to that end providing students significant opportunities to hear, experience, and participate in live performances.

Since 2006, the Band has hosted a major wind competition for high school students from Northern New Jersey and nearby New York State. The competition opens in November each year, inviting students to send applications by mid-December. The recording deadline is in February, finalists are notified, and live auditions take place in March. Scholarship prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, and the 1st place winner performs their audition piece with the Band in the May concert.

This highly acclaimed competition engages students, area band directors, private teachers, and the entire band membership to promote and celebrate wind education and quality performances

The 2010 winner will be featured at the May 7th concert, where all the winners will be recognized and presented with their scholarship award.
